This painting explores the paradox of liberation, not as a solitary act, but as something that can emerge from shared experience. Moving from darkness to light is not always about escape, but about connection.

Liberation here is not heroic or dramatic, but quiet, gradual, and made possible by not being alone.

I chose the French title Filles du Ciel for its layered meaning: filles can mean both girls and daughters, implying not only presence but origin. Daughters of the sky evokes something larger than the self, a link to something vast, open, and shared, which I couldn’t quite express the same way in English.
